The village Varsai, where this is school is located, and other villages in the surrounding area, had no high school. Children had to go to Pen or Khopoli for their further education. So, for most children it was a nightmare.  Some people thought of doing something, and,  Shri Pandurang Vaman Patil, Shri Vitthal Gurav and a teacher Shri. K. K. Rahalkar took the lead and established an institution named Gramseva Shikshan Sanstha.

In those days the school, Gramseva Vidyamandir, had hardly any good place. The institution could rarely make both ends meet; it could not provide the necessary amenities. The school became unmanageable and the institution sent an SOS to Pen Education Society. All the rights of management changed hands and Pen Education took over around 1975.

The problem of housing the school was solved by a generous Godse family in Varsai. The members of this family  gave away their house, so, in his memory, the school was renamed and came to be known as P. N. Godse Vidyamandir.

As the time passed by, some new class-rooms were built. Later this old house was razed and one more floor was added to the newer building.

Today the school is held in two sessions in 12 classrooms.
